Guidance CounselorBenton-Carroll-Salem Local School District is seeking a compassionate and student-centered High School Counselor to provide academic, social-emotional, and career awareness support to students in grades K–6. The successful candidate will implement a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) model and Ohio Department of Education standards. The counselor will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success, well-being, and readiness for lifelong learning.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with ASCA and Ohio standards.
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and career exploration.
- Deliver classroom lessons on topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, study habits, and decision-making.
- Assist students in developing positive peer relationships, coping strategies, and resilience.
- Identify and address barriers to learning by working with teachers, administrators, and families.
- Collaborate with staff to design interventions for students with academic, behavioral, or attendance concerns.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and student support teams.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and community resources to provide additional support for students and families.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school climate.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
- Participate in professional development and remain current with best practices in school counseling.
- Uphold district policies, state regulations, and the ethical standards of the Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA) and ASCA.
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Valid Ohio Pupil Services License in School Counseling.
- Strong knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and educational practices.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Master degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
