Position SummaryThe Director of Academic Support and Disability Services is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and delivery of student disability services and academic support programs. This is a working director position that combines direct service delivery with oversight of services that promote student access, persistence, and academic success.
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Experience, the Director serves as the lead for student disability accommodations, managing the interactive process and ensuring implementation in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and institutional policies. The position collaborates with the College’s Section 504 Compliance Officer (HR Director) to support compliance and address complex or high‑risk situations.
The Director also oversees academic support services, including tutoring, testing accommodations, and library services, and collaborates across the institution to reduce barriers to student success. This position is based on the Nelsonville campus and is not eligible for telework.
Reporting & SupervisionReports to:
Vice President of Student Experience and Success Support Services (or designee). Supervises:
Library Manager; academic support staff; testing center staff; student employees (as applicable).
- Disability Services and Accommodation Management
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of student disability services.
- Manage and participate in the interactive process for students requesting accommodations.
- Review documentation and determine appropriate academic accommodations in accordance with ADA and Section 504.
- Ensure timely implementation of accommodations in coordination with faculty and staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies.
- Develop and maintain procedures related to accommodation requests, documentation review, and service delivery.
- Provide guidance to faculty and staff regarding accommodation implementation and accessibility.
- Address and resolve student concerns related to accommodations.
- Compliance Coordination
- Implement disability services in alignment with ADA, Section 504, and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with the Section 504 Compliance Officer (HR Director) on policy interpretation and complex cases.
- Escalate high‑risk or sensitive compliance matters as appropriate.
- Support institutional compliance efforts through documentation, reporting, and process improvement.
- Assist with training for faculty and staff on disability access and accommodations.
- Academic Support Services
- Oversee daily operations of academic support services, including tutoring and testing support.
- Coordinate testing accommodations with faculty and academic departments.
- Evaluate and improve academic support services to enhance student retention and completion.
- Ensure services are accessible, student‑centered, and aligned with institutional goals.
- Library Services
- Provide administrative supervision to the Library Manager.
- Support alignment of library services with academic support and student success initiatives.
- Collaborate to enhance student access to academic resources and learning environments.
- Coordinate with campus partners to support access to academic technologies and materials.
- Title IX Parenting Student Support
- Coordinate academic accommodations and support services for parenting and pregnant students in alignment with Title IX.
- Collaborate with Title IX personnel and campus partners to ensure appropriate support and compliance.
- Serve as a resource to students and faculty regarding academic adjustments related to pregnancy and parenting status.
- Collaboration and Student Success
- Partner with faculty, academic leadership, and student services to support student success initiatives.
- Contribute to retention and completion efforts through academic support and accessibility services.
