The Gannon University College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track or teaching-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Art Therapy to begin August 2026 on the Ursuline College Campus of Gannon University in Pepper Pike, Ohio. If the anticipated merger between Ursuline College and Gannon University has not taken place by the start date for these positions, the faculty will instead be hired by Ursuline College.
The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with Art Therapy concentration) master's degree program, which is accredited by CACREP and CAAHEP/ACATE. The individual will teach graduate courses in Art Therapy content areas, advise students, and participate in departmental, college, and university committees and service activities. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness to assist in program development, student recruitment, outcome assessment, and accreditation activities.
Ideal candidates will provide evidence of competence in interactive and collaborative teaching styles, as well as active scholarship in the art therapy/counseling professions and commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting. Qualified candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, advise students and prepare them intellectually, professionally, and personally. If on the tenure track, they will engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon.
Requirements include an earned doctorate (preferred) in art therapy, expressive therapies, or counselor education (completed by time of appointment), or a master's degree in art therapy, with demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education. Art therapy credentials are required (ATR-BC), and the successful candidate must obtain the Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT) designation in Ohio within one year of hire. Required Qualifications
Education:
