Title: EDUCATION CONSULTANT/GIFTED PROGRAM CONSULTANT (Anticipated)
Reports to: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development
Job Objective: Provides collaborative leadership and support services to member districts for the development and improvement of instructional programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds required state department of education credentials.
- Administrative licensure and experience with instructional leadership.
- Ability to advance service center and member district objectives through program improvements based on evaluated data and research-based best practices.
- Acts in accordance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
- Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
- Effective leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
- Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) credentialed evaluator status is required.
Essential Functions:
1. Professionally manages instructional program consultation services. Establishes appropriate levels of member district autonomy and accountability.
- Directs the planning, delivery, and advancement of consultation services consistent with the service center's mission and legal requirements. Evaluates and recommends systemic changes that ensure continuous, measurable improvements in student participation and achievement.
- Develops a coherent strategy to accomplish concurrent responsibilities within required time frames.
- Monitors/facilitates program compliance with all pertinent laws and regulatory standards.
- Assists with the collection of accurate program data and the timely processing of paperwork.
- Helps member districts recruit highly-qualified program staff. Assists with orientation programs.
- Keeps member district staff informed about service center plans and activities.
- Helps member districts develop a unified curricular vision. Evaluates the curriculum. Recommends instructional materials. Identifies teaching methods best suited to address state standards and adopted curriculum goals.
- Serves on member district leadership teams and curriculum development committees.
- Recommends course additions/grade placements. Helps verify graduation requirements.
- Facilitates the implementation of grade-level curriculum. Guides staff in the use of formal/informal assessment strategies to gauge student progress toward achievement benchmarks.
- Helps member districts organize curriculum for library/media, gifted/talented, ESL, and summer intervention programs.
- Monitors literature on teaching effectiveness. Disseminates/models best practices information.
- Assists member districts with student testing programs. Helps establish standardized procedures to ensure the accurate recording and timely preservation of test data.
- Uses longitudinal analysis of test results to identify emerging student needs, relationships between interventions, achievements, and time forecasts for students to master expected skills.
- Identifies opportunities for staff to share timely, tangible assessment data with parents/guardians.
- Collaboratively resolves problems that impede student learning. Helps staff identify teaching techniques, intervention,s and aligned resources best suited for each student.
- Advocates for students. Facilitates full access to inclusive educational opportunities.
- Assists staff with pupil management issues. Participates in student planning meetings as needed.
- Evaluates operational performance. Identifies opportunities to improve program services.
- Fosters goodwill and encourages relationships that enhance public support for education.
- Enforces drug-free workplace rules, board policies, and administrative guidelines/procedures.
- Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers. Functions as part of a cohesive team.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record. Provides prompt notice of delays or absences.
- Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position.
- Respects privacy. Resolutely maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Diligently attends to job details. Pursues quality work results. Performs all aspects of the job.
- Resolves issues tactfully. Uses active listening/problem-solving techniques. Respects diversity.
