- The Liberty Local School District partners with a diverse community to provide excellent educational programs to prepare future-ready students.
- Liberty Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled Intervention Specialist to support students in grades K through 6. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment and enabling each student to achieve their maximum potential through tailored interventions and support strategies.
- Assessment and Identification
Collaborate with teachers and staff to gather data and insights on student performance.
Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school system and community.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal laws.
Work closely with students, parents, and educational staff to facilitate understanding and engagement in the IEP process.
Regularly monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals and academic benchmarks.
- Instructional Support
Utilize differentiated instructional strategies and evidence-based practices to meet diverse learning needs.
Communicate student progress with parents, guardians, and relevant educational staff through meetings, reports, and conferences.
- Collaboration and Teamwork
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and adjustments needed for plans and interventions.
- Behavioral Support
Provide strategies and support to promote positive behavior and social skills development.
Foster an inclusive school culture that values diversity and encourages participation of all students.
- Professional Development
Share knowledge and training with other staff members to enhance the entire school's approach to inclusive education.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Intervention Specialist, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in Special Education/Intervention Specialist (or the eligibility to obtain one).
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs, including learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other special needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction.
- Familiarity with current education technology and resources.
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods.
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend school events and activities commitments.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
