K-8 School Counselor

Job Description

The Carey Exempted Village School District is currently searching for an energetic, motivated, student-centered individual to fill the following position: K-8 SCHOOL COUNSELOR

The K-8 School Counselor will implement and direct a comprehensive school counseling plan that includes academic, career, and social/emotional development and includes a well‑rounded model that ensures developmental, preventative, and responsive services. This position will also coordinate district testing and the district's 504 process.

Interested candidates should hold a valid Ohio School Counselor License. Candidates should be student-centered and solution-focused; be capable of supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally; and have the ability to collaborate with students, families, staff, and community partners to create a positive school culture. Interested persons should also have a basic knowledge of schedule design, standardized testing, basic mental health and educational counseling, conflict resolution, technological aptitude, and the ability to meet all required paperwork deadlines.

Most importantly, prospective candidates should be hardworking, friendly, approachable, compassionate, and a team player as this position will require countless interactions with various administrators, teachers, students, and other school stakeholders.
