POSITION: SPECIAL EDUCATION AIDE
RESPONSIBLE TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL / SPECIAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR

JOB GOAL: To assist the identified student(s), who are enrolled in the regular education or special education program.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- One to two years related experience preferred
- Required to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
- Educational Aide Permit from the State Board of Education (if required)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

- Frequent work that may extend beyond the normal workday
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions
- Occasional interaction among unruly children/adults
- Many situations that require hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing and writing
- Consistent requirements to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read and speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel and climb and stoop
- Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Special Education Director and the Building Principals in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy.
