Reports To: Assigned administrator/supervisor.

Job Objective: Plans, implements and assesses individualized student intervention services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid state department of education license/certificate as determined at the time of appointment.
  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
  • Anticipates time constraints. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Complies with drug‑free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
  • Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
  • Exhibits consistent, impartial and resourceful decision‑making skills; interprets information accurately; evaluates options thoroughly; develops reasonable solutions to resolve issues.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Essential Functions
  • Teach assigned students/subject matters as scheduled. Plan/implement academic intervention strategies that help students meet state academic content, performance standards and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) objectives.
  • Communicate program objectives/performance expectations to students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of subject matter and pedagogy. Organize subject content and learning goals. Prepare instructional materials. Arrange the classroom for instruction.
  • Use a variety of assessments to evaluate learning styles and academic needs of students.
  • Develop educational experiences and vary instructional techniques to effectively engage and advance student learning. Sustains educational environments that promote high levels of student learning/achievement. Actively collaborate with staff. Share effective instructional strategies.
  • Use formal and informal assessment strategies to manage student learning and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify/resolve problems that impede student learning. Help ensure assessment procedures support non‑biased planning activities.
  • Follow district protocols to safeguard student information shared with staff and/or referral sources.
  • Identify services and alternative instructional approaches that enhance student achievement.
  • Help ensure services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment.
  • Plan/implement student intervention strategies that produce tangible evidence‑based benefits within specified time‑frames. Monitor intervention efficacy to improve outcomes.
  • Help students improve behavior that limits participation in traditional school environments.
  • Provide opportunities for all students to participate in an inclusive educational environment.
  • Provide accommodations/modifications as needed (e.g., differentiated curriculum, equipment adaptations, extended time, study guides, reading/transcribing assistance, etc.).
  • Advocate for students. Observe student demeanor. Investigate/reports atypical behavior.
  • Help students better understand themselves, make appropriate choices and grow academically. Promote cultural awareness, self‑reliance, problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and creativity skills.
  • Facilitate student learning activities that encourage teamwork and positive peer relationships.
  • Evaluate student achievement/performance. Prepare progress reports.
  • Proctor state/district testing activities as directed. Uphold mandated security procedures.
  • Assist with multi‑factored evaluation (MFE) as directed. Meet mandated paperwork timelines.
  • Ensure that student lists and teaching materials are readily available for substitutes.
Professional Conduct and Development
  • Contribute to an effective and positive work/learning environment. Complete all assigned duties.
  • Develop mutually respectful relationships with co‑workers. Function as part of a cohesive team.
