District Psychologist

Job Summary

Provides psycho‑educational assessments, program planning, and consultation services consistent with the district’s mission and mandated requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Provides student assessments to identify developmental, learning, and/or behavioral problems; develops intervention plans.
  • Conducts evaluations for early entrance, gifted and non‑public school programs and participates in play‑based preschool assessments.
  • Coordinates the multi‑factored evaluation (MFE) process and parent/student conferences.
  • Administers and interprets diagnostic tests, recommends student services, assists with program planning, and identifies opportunities to enhance student learning.
  • Keeps current with intervention design research and contributes to the development of dropout prevention, re‑entry and school completion strategies for at‑risk students.
  • Monitors student attendance/performance data to identify students struggling academically and investigates student concerns (e.g., abuse/neglect, attendance, discrimination, domestic violence, emotional/behavioral problems, poverty, pregnancy/parenting, self‑esteem, substance abuse).
  • Provides individual/group counseling, helps students acquire/improve personal skills, resolves problems that impede student learning, develops intervention strategies, and monitors efficacy.
  • Conducts or participates in manifestation determination and functional behavior assessments, contributes to crisis response plans, evaluates students for Section 504 needs, and helps staff with IEPs.
  • Completes Evaluation Team Reports, provides opportunities for inclusive education, advocates for students, and promotes creativity, cultural awareness and self‑reliance.
  • Facilitates student learning activities that encourage teamwork, assists with drug/harassment/violation prevention and school safety programs.
  • Exemplifies professionalism, fosters goodwill, complies with district policies, maintains a professional appearance and punctuality, and contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Maintains open and effective communications, participates in meetings, communicates program objectives, maintains accurate records, and refers policy questions to administrators.
  • Pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance through training and technology updates, and works toward mastery of developmental goals.
  • Ensures safety by implementing pupil management procedures, providing supervision, recognizing aggressive behavior, and responding to discrimination and child‑abuse concerns.
  • Performs other specific duties as directed, assists with urgent situations, and supports district initiatives.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Valid state Department of Education license or certificate.
    • Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
    • Behavioral management skills substantiated by training or work experience; agility, physical strength, and stamina may be required.
    • Flexibility, reliability, self‑discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
    • High ethical standards and personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
    • Effective time management and resourceful problem‑solving skills.
    • Criminal background free of violations that prohibit public school employment.
    • Compliance with mandated health screening after a conditional offer.
    • Core computer competencies appropriate at the time of hire.
    • At least one year of relevant experience (preferred).
    • Master’s degree (preferred).
    • Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.
    Working Conditions
