Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree with academic training or experience in a specific teaching field.
  • Valid certification in a specific teaching field from the Ohio Department of Education or evidence that one may have obtained.
  • Alternatives acceptable if not to exceed the above qualifications.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Essential Functions Domain A – Organizes Content Knowledge for Student Learning
  • Familiar with relevant aspects of students’ background knowledge and experiences.
  • Articulates clear learning goals for the lesson appropriate for the students.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of connections between prior content, current content, and future content.
  • Creates or selects teaching methods, learning activities, and instructional materials or technological resources that are appropriate for the students and aligned with the lesson goals.
  • Creates or selects evaluation strategies that align with the lesson goals.
  • Follows the approved course of study.
  • Shows evidence of daily lesson planning.
  • Has supplies, materials and equipment ready for instruction.
Domain B – Creates an Environment for Student Learning
  • Creates a climate that promotes fairness.
  • Establishes and maintains rapport with students.
  • Communicates challenging learning expectations to each student.
  • Establishes and maintains consistent standards of classroom behavior through a variety of approaches.
  • Ensures the physical environment is safe and conducive to learning.
  • Helps students develop a positive self‑image.
  • Maintains a high rate of on‑task behavior from students during lesson.
  • Emphasizes importance of student success in proficiency and/or local standardized tests.
Domain C – Teaches for Student Learning
  • Makes learning goals and instructional procedures clear to students.
