Overview

The Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADDEI) reports directly to the Dean for DEI and the Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the Division of Student Affairs. The ADDEI ensures that all students have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom, residence, and co‑curricular experience and has administrative oversight of programs such as the Kenyon Educational Enrichment Program (KEEP) and the Recognizing Each Other’s Ability to Conquer the Hill (REACH) Peer Mentoring Program.

Key

Functions Campus Programming
  • Develop and implement programs that support institutional initiatives designed to foster student belonging.
  • Coordinate the KEEP program, working closely with faculty co‑directors, staff, and students; supervise KEEP summer coordinators and serve as advisor to first‑year and sophomore KEEP scholars.
  • Coordinate the REACH peer‑mentoring program, including hiring, training, and supervising student coordinators and mentors.
  • Assist students requiring additional support with their transition to college, remain accessible for academic, personal, and social matters, and monitor retention.
  • Provide general support to multicultural student organizations—including advising, budget planning, programming, and leadership development through the Affinity Group Collective.
  • Plan and coordinate cultural and heritage month celebrations, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Dialogue, and the Knox County MLK Celebration Breakfast.
  • Collaborate with Alumni and Parent Engagement to plan the Alumni of Color Mentoring Initiative weekends and other affinity group anniversary celebrations.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Provide sound financial management for ODEI budget line items, including authorization of expenditures and evaluation of budgetary needs.
  • Produce reports on student progress to identify and address barriers to success.
Liaison with Admissions Office
  • Coordinate the KEEP cohort selection process in collaboration with the Office of Admissions.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to support recruitment efforts.
Liaison with Office of Student Engagement
  • Assist the Office of Student Engagement with programming and leadership development for multicultural student organizations.
  • Coordinate with Student Engagement staff in planning and implementing college‑wide programming and events.
Student Affairs Division/College Responsibilities
  • Advise students placed on academic conditional enrollment.
  • Support the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Dean for ODEI on special projects.
  • Attend Student Affairs Division staff meetings and provide reports to the Dean of ODEI.
  • Fulfill on‑call/on‑duty responsibilities to assist students and staff.
  • Participate in College and Student Affairs Division events and programs.
  • Cooperate with other Student Affairs staff in conducting initial and in‑service training programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise the KEEP summer coordinators, REACH student coordinators, and the Snowden student managers.
Working Conditions

This is a full‑time, 12‑month salaried position. The role does not have a regular 8:30 am–4:30 pm schedule and includes evening and weekend responsibilities, as well as an on‑call/on‑duty rotation of approximately 2–3 weeks each semester.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience working in education.
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or a related area.
  • Experience working with students in a college setting.
  • Experience providing linguistically diverse resources and support.
