Head Coach For Red Storm Archery
The University of Rio Grande invites applications for the position of Head Coach for Red Storm Archery, a co-ed program that has rapidly emerged as a national contender. In just its second year of competition, the team captured the 2025 Hotel Planner USA Archery Collegiate 3D National Championship, marking a historic milestone and underscoring its remarkable rise. With a strong culture of precision, teamwork, and academic success, this leadership role offers a unique opportunity to guide a championship-caliber program and shape the future of archery at Rio Grande.
Reporting to the Athletics Director, this full-time position will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the college's archery program. This includes developing and implementing training programs, recruiting student-athletes, fostering a competitive and inclusive team environment, and upholding the college's commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities- Design and oversee comprehensive archery training programs.
- Develop and implement practice schedules and competition strategies.
- Provide technical coaching and support to student-athletes, focusing on skill development, form, and mental preparation.
- Foster a culture of sportsmanship, discipline, and respect within the team.
- Identify and recruit talented student-athletes to the program.
- Attend archery competitions and events to scout potential recruits.
- Build relationships with high school coaches, archery clubs, and other sources of talent.
- Ensure student-athletes maintain satisfactory academic progress.
- Monitor student-athletes' academic performance and provide support when needed.
- Encourage a balance between athletics and academics.
- Ensure all program activities comply with college, conference, and NAIA rules and regulations.
- Oversee budget management for the archery program.
- Manage team travel, equipment, and logistics for competitions.
- Develop personalized development plans for each student-athlete.
- Work with athletes on goal setting and performance improvement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to help student-athletes reach their full potential.
- Act as a positive representative of the college and the archery program in the community.
- Participate in fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred).
- Demonstrated success as a competitive archer and/or collegiate coaching experience.
- USA Archery Level 2 or higher coaching certification.
- Strong understanding of archery techniques, equipment, and training methodologies.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and develop student-athletes.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive team environment.
- Knowledge of NAIA and conference rules and regulations (if applicable).
- Valid driver's license for travel to competitions and recruiting events.
