Job Description
  • Be considered the basic operative of the school.
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with the code of ethics of the teaching profession.
  • Organize the program to accomplish the goals and objectives of one's specific teaching field.
  • Evaluate oneself in the light of attainment of educational goals in conjunction with the supervisor.
  • Plan and support, to the best of one's abilities, the Administration, staff, and Board of Education in developing policy of the Leetonia Exempted Village Schools.
  • Plan and work with the Administration in the development of an effective curriculum designed to meet the needs of the students, school system, and community.
  • Plan and work with principals in ordering materials to be used in respective program.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans for students in the program.
  • Attend professional meetings and in-service.
  • Keep well informed as to the materials available in one's building and in the system which are at one's disposal.
  • Work closely with school psychologist in development and plan of Individual Education Plans.
  • Work cooperatively with principals and other teachers to ensure the continuity of the entire school program.
  • Keep well informed on new materials, books, programs, and methods which may enhance the individual classroom.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers, counselors, and other personnel.
  • Strive to improve parent-teacher relations.
  • Support school approved organizations with their programs.
  • Provide for each child a learning atmosphere commensurate with his/her ability using developmentally appropriate materials.
  • Use each course of study as a basis of organizing learning materials and activities.
  • Utilize all instructional materials to guide instruction toward curriculum objectives.
  • Develop learning and teaching strategies which will enable each student to successfully complete achievement, competency, and proficiency performance standards.
  • Be responsible for maintaining discipline throughout the building, on school grounds, and at school activities.
  • Evaluate the student and work toward a system of student self-evaluation.
  • Give careful consideration to all grades recorded and be fair and consistent to all concerned.
  • Familiarize oneself with the operation of all machines relating to audio visual, computer, and multimedia material which will aid instruction.
  • Develop student awareness in the importance of safety precautions.
  • Support, to the best of one's abilities, the policies, administrative guidelines set forth by the Board of Education, and Administration with whom one serves.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in maximizing educational opportunity for all pupils.
  • Plan and conduct instruction in a cooperative setting.
  • Provide individual and group instruction as needed.
  • Coordinate the activities of educational aides, if assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the director of pupil services, principals and/or superintendent within the parameters of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
