Brown County Educational Service Center – Georgetown, Ohio
Gifted Intervention Specialist – Challenge ProgramFull‑time position serving gifted students in grades 3‑6 of the Brown County School Districts, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The Challenge Program is housed at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center, 9193 Hamer Road, Georgetown, Ohio, and provides one full day of advanced instruction each week for identified gifted learners in grades 3‑6.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction for gifted students in grades 3‑6.
- Develop engaging learning experiences emphasizing critical thinking, creative problem solving, inquiry‑based learning, research skills, higher‑level questioning, vocabulary development, and communication skills.
- Create a positive learning environment that nurtures gifted students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Differentiate instruction based on students' areas of gifted identification.
- Develop and maintain Written Education Plans (WEPs) in accordance with Ohio Gifted Operating Standards.
- Monitor student progress and provide quarterly reports to parents.
- Collaborate with district personnel, classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Assist with gifted identification processes, including interpreting assessment data and participating in student referrals as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
- Participate in professional learning and program development activities.
- Valid Ohio teaching license.
- Valid Ohio Gifted Intervention Specialist endorsement/licensure or supplemental license while pursuing the GIS endorsement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of gifted education best practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to design engaging, differentiated curriculum for advanced learners.
- Experience working with gifted learners.
- Experience with inquiry‑based, project‑based, and interdisciplinary instruction.
- Knowledge of Ohio Gifted Operating Standards and Written Education Plans (WEPs).
- Experience interpreting gifted assessment data, including CogAT and Iowa Assessments.
