Barnesville High School is seeking a caring, dependable, and motivated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. This is a 15-hour-per-week position that plays an important role in supporting students with disabilities and helping them succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and functionally.
Position OverviewUnder the direction of licensed special education teachers and building administrators, the paraprofessional will:
- Provide instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students receiving special education services.
- Assist students in special education and general education classrooms and throughout the school day.
- Work one-on-one or with small groups of students to reinforce instruction and develop academic and functional skills.
- Support student independence while providing assistance consistent with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Supervise and support students in classrooms and other school settings.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, related-service providers, administrators, and other staff.
- Maintain student confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Completion of at least two years of college coursework totaling 60 semester credits;
- Three years of relevant work experience, along with demonstrated competency and participation in district-facilitated training; or
- A passing score on the Para Pro or Para Educator assessment.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate patience, dependability, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students and staff.
Salary and Benefits- Schedule:
15 hours per week. - Hourly wage: $21.30–$26.74, depending on qualifications, experience, and placement on the salary schedule.
This position is represented by the Minnesota School Employees Association (MSEA). Compensation and benefits are provided in accordance with the applicable MSEA collective bargaining agreement. The current agreement is available at:
Compensation and benefits for 2026–2027 are subject to the terms of the successor agreement.
