Gifted Intervention Specialist

Brown County Educational Service Center - Georgetown, Ohio

The Brown County Educational Service Center (BCESC) is seeking an innovative, student-centered Gifted Intervention Specialist to join our Challenge Program beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time position serving gifted students in grades 3–6 from the Brown County School Districts. The Challenge Program provides gifted services through a full-day pull-out model administered by a licensed Gifted Intervention Specialist.

Students participate in advanced learning experiences designed to develop critical thinking, creative thinking, divergent thinking, logical reasoning, creative problem solving, research methods, oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, technology and keyboarding skills, and STEM/STEAM activities. Instruction focuses on extending learning beyond grade-level expectations while encouraging curiosity, innovation, and independent thinking.

Students are selected through Ohio-approved gifted identification assessments and participate in an enriched curriculum designed to challenge advanced learners while fostering creativity, inquiry, and higher-level thinking. The Gifted Intervention Specialist responsibilities include the following; plan and deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction for gifted students in grades 3–6. Develop engaging learning experiences emphasizing critical thinking, creative problem solving, inquiry-based learning, research skills, higher-level questioning, vocabulary development, and communication skills.

Create a positive learning environment that nurtures gifted students' academic, social, and emotional growth. Differentiate instruction based on students' areas of gifted identification. Develop and maintain Written Education Plans (WEPs) in accordance with Ohio Gifted Operating Standards. Monitor student progress and provide quarterly reports to parents. Collaborate with district personnel, classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student success. Assist with gifted identification processes, including interpreting assessment data and participating in student referrals as needed.

Maintain accurate records and documentation required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Participate in professional learning and program development activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Valid Ohio teaching license. Valid Ohio Gifted Intervention Specialist endorsement/licensure or supplemental license while pursuing the GIS endorsement. Demonstrated knowledge of gifted education best practices. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to design engaging, differentiated curriculum for advanced learners. Preferred:
Experience working with gifted learners. Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, and interdisciplinary instruction. Knowledge of Ohio Gifted Operating Standards and Written Education Plans (WEPs). Experience interpreting gifted assessment data, including CogAT and Iowa Assessments.
