Background Check Requirement

All offers of employment at Central State University are contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check, which may include verification of education and employment history, criminal history, driving record (if applicable), drug screening, and tax compliance review. Central State invites applications for an Adjunct faculty position in the Department of Humanities in all academic disciplines within the department:
English, History, and Philosophy.

Teach courses necessary for Humanities, including first- and second-year composition, undergraduate first‑year success seminar, critical thinking, Introduction to African American history, and general education literature courses.

• Doctoral or Master’s Degree in Philosophy, English literature, rhetoric and composition, American history, or a closely related field.
• Evidence of scholarship and teaching in the Humanities.

• Availability for in‑person teaching at Central State University.
• Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and improvement.
• Expertise in any of the following sub‑fields: environmental humanities, legal studies, or medical humanities.
• Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
• Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of a comprehensive college in a multicultural setting.
• Evidence of the possession of those qualities of character, personality, and competence expected in a teacher.

Temporary

Budgeted Annual Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
