Job Summary /Basic FunctionThe Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences welcomes applications for an adjunct faculty position in the chemistryprogram of the Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Adjunct faculty typically teach up to 9 contact hours per semester.
- Teach undergraduate biology courses as assigned.
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments,and handouts.
- Evaluate and grade students’ class/lab work, assignments, andpapers.
- Collect and analyze data for program and universityassessment.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Initiate, facilitiate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Develop and use multimedia course materials and other currenttechnology, such as online courses.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Previous successful work experience with culturally diverse populations a plus.
- Cope effectively with adversity and demonstrate leadership skills that promote collegiality and cooperation.
- Ability to use technology in instruction. Experience incurriculum and institutional assessment a plus.
- Committed to values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Earned master’s degree in chemistry or related discipline is required.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the undergraduate classroom.
Ph.D. preferred.
Applicants with teaching experience preferred.
