Overview
All duties of Transportation Project Manager, including, but not limited to, plan, direct, and coordinate activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Prepare bid packages including plans, specifications and estimates. In addition, Senior Transportation Project Managers are expected to serve as mentors to Project Managers and technical staff, providing technical and administrative guidance.
Senior Transportation PM’s may also be called upon to assist the Department Manager with overall project management, staff management, recruiting, preparation of proposals, attendance to professional meetings and conferences, and direct client marketing.
- Manage multiple design projects independently
- Monitor and maintain project schedules
- Monitor project budgets and deliver within budget
- Mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers and technical staff within the Division
- Coordinate staffing and workload of staff through project development to complete documents on schedule and within budget
- Provide technical assistance to project personnel
- Main point of contact with clients, agencies, and subconsultants
- Implement QA/QC procedures
- Review completed work for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and project requirements
- Schedule and attend client, regulatory agency, or other meetings
- Develop and maintain business relationships through client interaction
- Prepare technical and price proposals
- Prepare/oversee project reports, project schedules, review project invoices
- Assume responsible charge of projects, providing PE seal where appropriate
- Other projects/responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required, or lesser degree with an appropriate amount of design and management experience will be considered
Training Requirements (licenses/programs/certificates):
- Professional Engineer (required), Project Management Professional (preferred)
Knowledge Requirements:
- Civil / Structural / Traffic / Environmental engineering design – site, roadway, bridge, traffic, etc.
- ODOT Project Management Experience
- Thorough knowledge of design and administrative software
- Plans, reports, and specifications preparation, to client standards
- Construction phase design and management
