Job Summary

Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance activities of a landfill gas collection system as directed by Wellfield Manager. Responsible for overseeing collection system optimization and troubleshooting, while adhering to site specific standard operating procedures set forth by host landfill. Strives to achieve high standards of safety and environmental integrity while maintaining maximum collection of landfill gas.

Essential Job Functions
  • Repairs and/or oversees the direction of operations personnel to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Spend majority of time in the field to provide quality control and production compliance for the gas control and collection system.
  • Maintain the wellfield leachate management system operations and maintenance including the extraction well pumping system, pipe welding, well head repairs, monitoring equipment, air pumps, electrical pumps, compressors, flares, etc.
  • Perform monitoring and collection of data for illustration of NSPS and local permit compliance.
  • Supports 3rd party gas contractor during construction activities including system expansions and modifications as required.
  • Ability to interpret analytical reports and make changes based off those reports; maintain site‑specific management system documentation and procedures, including other analytical tasks reading and interpreting data and construction/permit drawings.
  • Provide oversight of to wellfield to ensure 3rd party contractor is tuning and balancing to achieve NSPS and maximizing the current gas collection and control system.
  • Assist the landfill leachate team with operation and maintenance of the leachate collection system and identifying field issues such as breakouts, pump/sump problems, etc.
  • Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years in a landfill gas or construction environment
  • Knowledge of wellfield gas collection system installation techniques
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities
  • Working knowledge of pumps, gauges, etc.
  • Strong verbal, written, computer communication and organization skills
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively in a team environment
  • Natural or landfill gas wellfield collection system construction experience
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds on occasion
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements
  • Ability to use a variety of tools
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain
