The Manufacturing Engineer position will be responsible for estimating labor requirements and assuring that work is performed in an efficient and safe manner. This individual will check product costing for accuracy along with manufacturing feasibility. The Manufacturing Engineer must evaluate labor, equipment, packaging and processes to implement productivity improvements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Investigate and recommend solutions to issues with manufacturing processes, labor, equipment, materials, and layouts
- Interview supervisors and operators to identify improvements and assure effective implementation of changes
- Manage labor estimate requests and Bill of Material validation for new and existing products
- Communicate with multiple departments including corporate functions to assure accurate labor estimates and feasibility of new products or packaging
- Improve direct labor efficiencies
- Review labor standards and make updates as needed
- Consider quality, environmental, health and safety while implementing manufacturing changes
- Provide leadership and support to cross-functional teams comprised of Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Marketing, Packaging, Environmental, Safety and Materials.
- Develop business case and financial justification for implementing capital projects
- Create standard operating procedures and training for equipment or processes.
- Lead or support Kaizen and VA/VE events
- Project management from ideation, justification, implementation to sustainability
- Deliver results that support engineering and organizational mission.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Technical knowledge of estimating labor requirements
- Technical knowledge of ergonomics
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing techniques
- Good presentation, communication, and professional skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong leadership and teamwork abilities
- Financial acumen related to manufacturing concepts
- Proficient in Power BI
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent work in an engineering or engineering related role
- 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
- Injection molding experience a plus
