This role is ideal for a professional with a mechanical engineering or building science background, with proven experience guiding green building certifications from concept to completion. Experience in energy modeling will be considered an asset.
The Sustainability Certification Advisor will lead certification and performance projects for high-profile clients across Canada and the U.S.
You will manage project delivery, mentor technical teams, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and developers to achieve LEED, WELL, Zero Carbon Building (ZCB), Envision, and other sustainability certifications.
You will also help shape decarbonization strategies and contribute to the team’s business development and technical excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Delivery- Manage multiple sustainability projects from proposal to certification, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability goals into design and construction.
- Oversee certification documentation, quality control, and client communication.
- Mentor junior team members and support internal training and knowledge sharing.
- Lead certification processes for LEED v4/v4.1, WELL, ZCB, Envision, Green Globes, and related programs.
- Advise clients on framework selection, design strategies, and achievable sustainability targets.
- Integrate energy, carbon, and life‑cycle assessment (LCA) into certification workflows.
- Support net‑zero energy and carbon strategies, including embodied carbon reduction and decarbonization roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment with local sustainability regulations and corporate ESG goals.
- Develop proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for sustainability and certification services.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify new opportunities for growth.

- 10+ years of experience in sustainability consulting, with focus on green building certifications and delivering LEED or other certification projects.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineer or similar designation preferred.
- Accreditation in one or more of: LEED AP (BD+C, O+M), WELL AP, ENV SP, Green Globes, ZCB Professional.
- Proven experience modeling building emission reductions, and with energy modeling tools (e.g., IES VE, eQuest, Energy Plus, Open Studio, RETScreen Software and others) is preferred.
- Experience with LCA tools (e.g., One Click LCA, Tally, EC3) and integration with Revit or BIM environments.
- Experience with digital analytics and visualization tools (e.g., QGIS and others) is considered an asset.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. building codes and sustainability incentive programs.
- Strong communication, client management, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead collaborative, cross‑disciplinary teams.
- Occasional travel for site visits or client meetings may be required.
