Transportation Engineer 1 (TE1) or Transportation Engineer 2 (TE2), Capital Program Administration/Construction PN
The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.
Transportation Engineer 1 or Transportation Engineer 2 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program to include a 12‑month training plan & scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines;
Planning & Engineering, Construction and Highway Maintenance.
- You will receive a thorough introduction to the three core civil engineering disciplines.
- You will work alongside ODOT professional engineers.
- You will receive hands‑on transportation training & experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.

Qualifications Transportation Engineer 1Bachelor's degree in engineering;
Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
Valid certificate as Engineer‑In‑Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.
— Or Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer‑In‑Training; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.
— Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
