Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
Key Responsibilities:Planning & Execution of Quality Inspections:
- Incoming
- Key stages of manufacturing, assembly, integration & testing.
- Before release to customers or next integration phase.
- Support the detection, documentation and containment of nonconformances.
- Assist in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and follow up on rework or repair implementation and verification.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions in coordination with engineering and MAIT.
- Provide day-to-day quality support to MAIT.
- Review and approve MAIT procedures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, space and aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
- Qualification of Special processes based in EN9100 (e.g: welding, Non-Destructive Testing, etc). Desirable experience with welding.
- Train MAIT staff on quality procedures and best practices.
- Calibration coordination.
- Lead quality improvement projects to enhance process stability and product quality.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve product quality.
- Analyze quality data and generate reports to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality assurance role, preferably in aerospace, space, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., EN/AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inspection techniques (visual, dimensional, electrical), and GD&T.
- Experience with nonconformance management systems and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa).
- Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and statistical analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and desirable experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
