Job Description Summary
Metallic Materials Application Engineer (MAE) provides materials expertise and technical leadership for multiple material systems across a variety of components. The role focuses on the development and application of metallic materials and processes for aviation components within the supply chain, working with new products and legacy teams to solve complex technical problems.
Role Responsibilities- Execute analysis, design, test, or integration to define and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and product requirements.
- Perform material selection, troubleshoot manufacturing issues at new‑make and in‑repair, implement new materials/processes, review supplier processes, and plan material test programs.
- Drive business strategy for improvement in titanium‑based alloy forge processing (forge & heat treatment) of rotor alloys across the rotating parts supply chain.
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
- Support supply‑chain activities through audits, pre‑production meetings, and participation on business and industry teams.
- Define technical specifications and establish process limits.
- Promote open engineering dialogue and ensure proper documentation of technical data.
- Participate in organizational initiatives and travel as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy and at least 3 years of experience in material application, failure analysis, forge processing, isothermal forging, or related work.
- Or a high‑school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in the same areas.
- Additional experience in aerospace or gas turbine manufacturing, quality systems, and field support.
- Experience with metallic forge and heat‑treat processing of rotating part forgings and materials.
- In‑depth understanding of metallurgy, manufacturing processes, and inspections such as forging, heat treatment, macroetch, blue‑etch anodize inspection, etc.
- Solid understanding of the supply‑chain and strong oral/written communication skills.
- Effective problem‑identification, solution, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and a desire to perform technical work.
- Base salary range: $112,000 – $171,350, with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus based on a percentage of base salary.
