MTNA Head Office in Marysville, OH is searching for a Sales Engineer. The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting new business development and maintaining profitable customer relationships through accurate quoting, technical support, and commercial coordination. This role works closely with customers and internal departments to develop competitive pricing, support program launches, and ensure customer requirements align with manufacturing capabilities and company profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities Quoting & Cost Analysis
  • Prepare detailed and accurate sales quotations utilizing established cost models, tooling assumptions, material pricing, labor standards, and manufacturing data.
  • Analyze project profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins through process efficiencies, cost reductions, and strategic pricing.
  • Review customer RFQs, technical drawings, specifications, and program requirements to ensure complete and accurate quote development.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and finance teams to validate costing assumptions and production feasibility.
  • Present finalized quotations and profitability analyses to upper management for review and approval.
Customer & Commercial Support
  • Serve as a primary commercial contact for customers during the quotation and negotiation phases.
  • Negotiate pricing, tooling costs, engineering changes, and commercial terms with customers while clearly communicating the rationale behind cost structures.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and professional support.
  • Support customer meetings, technical discussions, plant visits, and business reviews as required.
  • Assist with resolving commercial issues related to pricing, cost recovery, engineering changes, and customer expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a support resource for manufacturing facilities by understanding operational needs, production constraints, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with program management and operations teams during new program launches to ensure alignment between quoted assumptions and actual production requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure timely completion of customer deliverables and business objectives.
Financial & Strategic Planning
  • Support annual and mid-year budgeting activities, forecasting, and sales planning efforts.
  • Assist leadership with sales reporting, profitability tracking, and business development initiatives.
  • Monitor market conditions, material trends, and industry changes that may impact quoting strategies or profitability.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word).
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, plastic injection molding, tooling, and cost structures preferred.
  • Ability to analyze technical and financial data to make sound business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to manage the sales and quotation process from initial RFQ through final award.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire for continuous learning, professional growth, and process improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven automotive environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20-25% domestically and internationally.
