Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for drafting and design functions for the development of new and existing products, as well as providing technical support to other areas of the company. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of engineering processes and practices.
Essential Functions- Work in conjunction with Designers and Engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
- Generate detailed designs and drawings, concepts, and new product mechanisms in both 2D and 3D.
- Resolve design/drawing issues to meet required goals.
- Develop documentation during development and for transfer to production (models and detail drawings).
- Generate meticulous, detailed, and thorough documentation and reports.
- Interface with the client as needed on various projects.
- Communicate job requirements and design intent to others regarding operation of systems.
- Ensure corrective actions for mechanical design issues are addressed appropriately and implemented in a timely manner.
- Participate in company safety meetings and Lean manufacturing meetings.
- Perform work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum 3 years experience in an engineering role required.
- Proven experience working with 3D design/drafting required.
- Exhibit strong analytical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Have good organizational skills and be a self‑starter.
- Be able to communicate clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Work well within a team environment.
- Have the ability to work with little to no supervision.
The role frequently requires sitting and using hands to operate tools and equipment. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, walk, lift, push or pull objects up to 20 pounds. Hand‑eye coordination is required to operate computers and office equipment.
