About us

MBS GmbH is a quality provider of critical communication services and infrastructure. As an owner-managed, internationally active company, we employ more than 250 people in Germany, France and Poland.

We operate data and voice communications via satellite and data networks - worldwide and in space. Our expertise ranges from traditional satellite services to customised applications in the fields of new space, automation and artificial intelligence.

Government, business and media customers worldwide rely on the integrity and innovative strength of MBS Holding. Not least because we have our own fail‑safe infrastructure.

To strengthen our Systems Engineering team, we are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer – GEO Spacecraft Simulation & Environment Analysis (m/f/d). In this role, you will analyze the effects of radiation, thermal conditions and orbital constraints on modern satellite platforms and ensure their long‑term performance in GEO through simulation‑driven system analyses. At the same time, you will contribute to future LEO and multi‑orbit architectures for the next generation of commercial space systems.

Your

tasks
  • Develop, maintain and analyze spacecraft budgets, including power, thermal, radiation, mass and propulsion budgets
  • Model and simulate GEO‑specific environmental conditions such as thermal cycling, radiation exposure and long‑term material degradation
  • Build and execute system‑level simulations using STK, MATLAB/Simulink and other established space industry tools
  • Perform mission and lifetime analyses, including assessment of degradation effects throughout spacecraft operations
  • Support design and trade‑off studies for spacecraft platforms and subsystems, including power systems, thermal control, attitude and orbit control systems (AOCS), onboard processing, structures and propulsion
  • Contribute to requirements definition as well as verification and validation planning
  • Support launch and early operations activities through predictive modeling and anomaly investigations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across systems engineering, software development and project management
  • Create and maintain technical documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends in the space and satellite sector
Your profile
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Physics or a related field
  • Several years of professional experience (approximately 5–10 years) in spacecraft systems engineering, with a focus on spacecraft platforms, environmental analysis or mission design
  • Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics and mission analysis, ideally for GEO missions
  • Proven experience in spacecraft budget analysis, particularly power, thermal, radiation, mass and/or propulsion
  • Strong proficiency with STK, MATLAB/Simulink and other simulation and analysis tools used within the space industry
  • Solid understanding of spacecraft subsystems such as power generation and distribution, thermal control, attitude control, onboard processing and propulsion
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards or comparable space engineering frameworks
  • Experience using Python, MATLAB or similar programming languages for automation, simulation and data analysis
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and engineering judgement
  • Required language skills:
    German – C1, English – B2
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion (approximately 10%) and participate in regular team meetings within Germany
We offer
  • Freedom, trust and responsibility for the tasks assigned to you in an international environment with flat hierarchies
  • Flexibility in terms of working hours thanks to flexitime arrangements
  • Extensive equipment with company cell phone and company laptop
  • Long‑term support in acquiring new skills through further training
  • Permanent employment contract with 30 days of vacation and employer contributions to the company pension scheme
  • Further financial benefits:
Benefit card with monthly credit & motivational leasing for e‑cars through employer subsidy
  • Of course coffee, water and a delicious canteen with freshly prepared food
