BWI Group is a premier chassis supplier that designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the global transportation market. BWI Group is seeking a Technical Project Lead – Suspension is responsible for leading cross‑functional engineering projects for suspension systems from concept through launch, ensuring technical targets, timing, and cost objectives are achieved. The Lead combines strong suspension and chassis engineering knowledge with project leadership skills to coordinate requirements, manage risks and issues, and deliver robust suspension solutions for OEM customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the technical planning and execution of suspension system projects, from requirements definition through design, validation, launch, and post‑launch support.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for suspension projects with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, clearly communicating status, risks, and issue resolution plans.
  • Coordinate the work of product engineers, validation engineers, analysts, and technicians to ensure aligned and timely delivery of suspension system designs and releases.
  • Translate customer and internal requirements into clear system and component specifications and ensure traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain project technical plans, including engineering timing, design milestones, DVP&R, and key deliverables for suspension hardware and associated components.
  • Drive system‑level integration of suspension modules, ensuring compatibility with chassis, steering, braking, and vehicle‑level performance and durability requirements.
  • Facilitate design reviews, DFMEAs, and technical risk assessments; track open issues and drive closure through structured problem‑solving methods.
  • Oversee prototype and pilot builds for suspension systems, including build readiness, technical build support, issue tracking, and feedback to design teams.
  • Ensure completion of validation and verification activities (bench, rig, and vehicle testing) in line with project timing, customer requirements, and internal standards.
  • Support cost, weight, and complexity optimization by leading value engineering and design‑to‑cost activities for suspension components and systems.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and suppliers to ensure product designs are feasible, manufacturable, and meet quality and warranty targets.
  • Prepare and present technical status, design decisions, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to engineer leadership and customer teams.
REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Several years of experience in product development or systems engineering, preferably in suspension, chassis, or related vehicle systems.
  • Strong understanding of suspension system design, function, and vehicle dynamics fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical project activities, coordinating cross‑functional teams, and managing engineering deliverables to a schedule.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and test reports.
  • Proficiency with standard office and project tools (e.g., MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; project planning tools a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with a focus on data‑driven decisions and risk management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with OEM or Tier‑1 suspension or chassis projects, including customer interface and launch support.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., NX/Unigraphics, Creo or similar) and understanding of GD&T and relevant suspension/chassis standards.
  • Knowledge of structured development processes, including DFMEA, DVP&R, and change management.
  • Experience with vehicle or component testing related to ride, handling, durability, and NVH.
