Description
The Air Force Institute of Technology Center for Space Research & Assurance (CSRA) is offering a research internship at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
What will I be doing?As an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to conduct research in aerodynamics and atmospheric reentry. In particular, the project will leverage software to simulate dynamics and, if opportunity allows, conduct wind tunnel tests in AFIT's supersonic tunnel. An additional project involves designing a vertical chamber to test concepts for high‑altitude deceleration technologies.

Start DateExact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.
DurationThis appointment is a two‑month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

The qualified candidate will hold or be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in any of the required disciplines listed in the eligibility section. Degree holders must have earned their degree within 5 years of the appointment start date, and current students should have an anticipated graduation date of May 31, 2028.
