Project Engineers assist Team Leaders with the planning, design, production and successful completion of projects.
Project Engineer Responsibilities- Design and produce civil construction plans under the direction of Project Team Leaders.
- Prepare engineering reports and specifications.
- Research, manage and execute project permitting requirements.
- Ensure that BURKHARDT’s design/drawing standards and processes are implemented and maintained.
- Represent the client and company at project meetings when necessary.
- Conduct field visits to gain a better understanding of existing site conditions.
- Coordinate with external project team and direct sub‑consultants.
- Perform and administer construction phase services.
- Develop project management skills by taking initiative on projects and learning from other team members.
- Gain a solid understanding of the entire design and development process.
- Take initiative to assist with the preparation of proposals and other marketing and business development efforts.
- Learn from, and become involved in, the AEC community by reading, attending industry events, and engaging via social media and other outlets.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineer Intern (EI / EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) with excellent design skills.
- Autodesk Civil 3D experience required.
- 5+ years of relevant post‑graduation work experience, land development preferred.
- Base compensation commensurate with experience and quarterly bonuses based on P&L.
Team Leaders are responsible for directing and leading a team of engineers, designers, and other technical staff to successfully execute projects.
Team Leader Responsibilities- Direct, review, and approve all project designs, plans, reports, specifications, and revisions.
- Plan, direct and coordinate all project processes and schedules to meet client objectives and deliverables while hitting financial targets.
- Lead, motivate, and communicate with the project team to ensure that all team members are staying on task and working toward the same objectives.
- Perform QA/QC/VE reviews to ensure that all plans and reports meet project objectives and that all plans are clear, detailed, accurate, and efficiently designed.
- Critically assess jurisdictional review comments, requirements, and plan changes for items that could impact a project’s quality, budget, or schedule and respond in accordance with best practices.
- Maintain and adhere to Burkhardt’s design and production standards and processes.
- Represent the client and company at project meetings, presentations/interviews, and public hearings.
- Select sub‑consultants for projects as necessary.
- Train, mentor, and instruct team members to ensure their success and advancement.
