Job Description
Honda is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer – Chassis to join its engineering team in Raymond, OH. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical design
, CATIA
, and automotive chassis systems
. This role involves designing, developing, and validating chassis components while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support new vehicle programs.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within the automotive industry.
- Strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5 for 3D modeling, assembly design, and drafting.
- Experience in the design and development of chassis systems such as suspension, steering, frame, subframe, or brake components.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with design validation, testing, and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with automotive product development processes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting prototype builds and production launches.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, and PPAP.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems.
- Previous experience working with Honda or other automotive OEMs is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop chassis components and assemblies using CATIA V5.
- Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Perform design reviews, tolerance analysis, and feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Support prototype development, validation testing, and issue resolution.
- Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
- Ensure designs comply with quality, cost, performance, and timing requirements.
- Support product launches and continuous improvement activities.
