My client is an innovative American automotive manufacturer focused on redefining affordable electric mobility. They are developing a new generation of purpose-built electric vehicles with an emphasis on simplicity, modular design, and customer customisation.
Our client is looking for a CAE Crash Engineer to join their expanding team on a Contract basis. The role will be based in Raymond, OH.
Position Summary:
- Our Client is seeking an experienced CAE Crash Analyst to perform crash worthiness simulations and support the development of safe, high-performing automotive systems.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in either full-vehicle crash analysis or Tier 1 seating-system crash simulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and execute nonlinear crash simulation models using LS-DYNA.
- Prepare and assemble finite element models using ANSA.
- Post-process and interpret simulation results using META.
- Conduct full-vehicle or seating-system crash analyses, including frontal, side, rear, and other applicable impact load cases.
- Evaluate structural behaviour, deformation, intrusion, load paths, energy absorption, and occupant-safety performance.
- Identify failure modes and recommend design improvements.
- Perform model debugging, quality checks, correlation, and validation.
- Work with design, safety, test, and engineering teams to resolve performance issues.
- Prepare technical reports and clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Support physical-test correlation and implement lessons learned in future simulation models.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in at least one of the following:
- Full-vehicle crash simulation and analysis, or
- Tier 1 automotive seating crash simulation.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- LS-DYNA
- ANSA
- META post-processor
- Good understanding of finite element analysis, nonlinear material behaviour, contact definitions, connections, and crash dynamics.
- Ability to analyse simulation results, troubleshoot model issues, and propose practical engineering solutions.
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with occupant safety, restraint systems, seat structures, or regulatory and consumer crash requirements.
- Knowledge of model correlation against physical crash-test data.
- Familiarity with automotive materials, joining methods, and structural design.
- Experience working in an OEM, engineering consultancy, or Tier 1 automotive supplier environment.
