Reliability Engineer
At Centrus Energy, we're doing more than powering the future—we're helping secure America's energy independence. As a Reliability Engineer, you'll play a critical role in keeping the systems that support our advanced nuclear fuel operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, using data to drive smarter maintenance strategies, and collaborating with talented teams to improve equipment performance, this is the opportunity for you.
Every day presents a new challenge and a new opportunity to make a measurable impact on one of the nation's most important clean energy missions.
As a Reliability Engineer, you will improve the reliability, availability, and performance of plant equipment by analyzing equipment failures, identifying reliability risks, and implementing engineering solutions that reduce downtime and optimize maintenance strategies. You'll partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project teams to perform root cause analyses, develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs, monitor equipment health, evaluate new technologies, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, operational excellence, and overall plant performance.
We'd love to hear from people with:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of engineering, maintenance, reliability, or industrial operations experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a nuclear, high-hazard, or otherwise highly regulated environment
- Experience performing root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implementing corrective actions
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance principles
- Experience interpreting equipment performance data and identifying improvement opportunities
- Familiarity with rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, motors, valves, process systems, and industrial equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance
A successful candidate brings:
- 5+ years of experience within nuclear, chemical processing, manufacturing, power generation, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industrial environments.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, or other predictive maintenance technologies.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as Oracle, SAP, or Maximo.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering methodologies including FMEA, RCM, Weibull analysis, and statistical reliability tools.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), or other relevant certifications.
- Experience supporting capital projects and equipment commissioning.
- Currently holding an active Q-level security clearance
