About The JobWe are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our growing environmental consulting practice. We are looking for a motivated professional who enjoys working directly with clients, managing projects, and helping industrial and commercial facilities navigate complex environmental regulations.
This position offers the opportunity to lead a variety of environmental projects while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, hydro geologists, scientists, and other environmental professionals to deliver practical solutions for a diverse client base.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAs an Environmental Engineer, you will:
- Prepare and update Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans.
- Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
- Assist clients with NPDES permitting and industrial stormwater compliance.
- Prepare environmental permit applications and regulatory reports.
- Conduct facility inspections and environmental compliance audits.
- Manage projects from proposal through completion, including budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and technical deliverables.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and compliance documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Support business development by developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
Candidates should have:
- 5+ years of environmental consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing SPCC Plans.
- Experience in at least two of the following:
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
- NPDES permitting and compliance
- Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
- Experience managing environmental consulting projects from proposal through completion, including client communication, scheduling, budgeting, and technical deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Candidates must hold a PE license in any U.S. state and be willing and able to obtain Ohio licensure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites.
Important Engineering Background
This is NOT a construction engineering position.
The company does not perform construction work, so candidates whose experience is primarily focused on construction engineering are not the type of engineers being sought.
The ideal candidate should have strong environmental engineering and regulatory compliance experience.
SPCC, SWPPP, and NPDES are areas the company works with frequently, so hands-on experience in these areas is highly relevant and preferred.
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- Air permitting and compliance
- Hazardous waste (RCRA) compliance
- Tier II/TRI reporting
- Brownfield redevelopment
- Vapor intrusion investigations and mitigation
- Environmental due diligence (Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments)
- Environmental compliance auditing
- Business development and client relationship management
Hybrid is flexible. We would like the candidate to be in Ohio so they can travel to company sites.
One of the company's other employees is in Warren, Ohio
, and is in the office 2 to 3 days a month
, for example, but would be in the office more if needed.
Ideally, the candidate would work 2 days remotely and the rest in the office
, but the company does not want to overlook someone who may be a bit farther away.
Travel or field visits depend on the work, so there is no fixed percentage of travel for this position.
Compensation & Benefits- Base Salary: $120,000 - $130,000
