Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Data Center Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize control systems that power AWS's global data centers. You'll develop and support PLC/SCADA-based solutions for mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensuring high availability, safety, and efficiency. Partnering with capacity delivery, operations, and design teams, you'll drive commissioning, automation improvements, and root-cause analysis while creating standards and documentation.
This role suits engineers who thrive in fast-paced, data-driven environments and want to impact cloud-scale infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and optimize data center control systems to support AWS capacity delivery
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alarming, and automation for mechanical and electrical infrastructure
- Collaborate with design, operations, and capacity planning teams to integrate controls into new builds and retrofits
- Analyze system performance data to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability
- Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems across global data centers
- Ensure controls designs and operations comply with safety, security, and regulatory standards
- Develop technical documentation, standards, and best practices for data center controls
- Provide engineering escalation support for complex incidents impacting capacity or availability
