Our Client is seeking an experienced Seat Engineer to support the design and development of automotive seating systems from concept through mass production. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in seating components, CATIA, surface modeling, vehicle packaging, regulatory requirements, and DFM/DFA.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop automotive seating systems with 10+ years of relevant experience
. - Design seating components including sheet metal, plastics, and surrounding/interfacing parts from concept through mass production.
- Create and modify 3D, 2D, and 3DA models/drawings using CATIA V5/V6
. - Perform surface modeling and support complex seating component development.
- Develop designs considering vehicle packaging, styling, regulations, performance, and manufacturing requirements
. - Apply knowledge of FMVSS and ECE regulatory requirements to seating design.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable occupant safety regulations
. - Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Conduct intermediate design checks with cross-functional engineering teams
. - Perform module-level design reviews and validation.
- Coordinate with offshore engineering teams to ensure tasks are completed according to schedule and quality requirements.
- Guide engineering teams on continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with styling, body, safety, manufacturing, testing, and other cross-functional teams.
- 10+ years of automotive seating design experience
. - Strong experience with CATIA V5 and/or CATIA V6
. - Strong 3D/2D/3DA modeling experience.
- Good surface modeling skills.
- Experience designing sheet metal and plastic components
. - Strong knowledge of vehicle packaging and seating systems
. - Knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, and occupant safety regulations
. - Strong understanding of DFM/DFA
. - Experience working in cross-functional automotive engineering environments.
