Formulation Chemist – Alkyds Family-owned manufacturer is seeking Alkyd Coating Chemist to join their team. If you have 10+ years in coating formulation, this could be a great role for you! This role has high visibility and offers competitive benefits.
Duties- Develop and improve existing acrylic and alkyd formulations
- Develop customer-specific formulations and reformulations
- Support development of new product lines and technologies
- Troubleshoot customer coating issues
- Travel to customer sites for technical support and troubleshooting, including occasional last-minute trips
- Research and implement raw-material replacements
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues
- Manage approximately 3-4 active projects at a time
- Conduct bench formulation and laboratory testing
- Perform hardness and salt-water spray testing
- Improve and optimize existing product formulations
- Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams
- Work closely with the Technical Director, Senior Chemist, and QC Director
- Maintain technical documentation and ERP-related information
- Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement
$100,000 - $115,000

- Ideally 10+ years of acrylic and/or alkyd coatings experience
- Waterborne coatings/Solvent borne coatings
- Direct-to-metal/direct-to-steel coatings preferred

- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
