Sr Director Finance
The purpose of this role is to be an active member of the business unit senior leadership team and lead the management of commercial and financial matters for the business unit. This executive-level position reports directly to senior leadership, with responsibility for delivering business unit results (P&L responsibility), providing both financial and non‑financial advice to senior operational and functional leadership, and assisting with strategy development and allocation of resources.
Job DescriptionAs a key contributor to the Senior Leadership Team, the Sr Director Finance will provide strategic financial guidance across commercial, operational, and functional domains, ensuring robust financial performance and informed decision‑making.
Operational Support- Act as senior management‐team member in key tactical and strategic decisions (financial and non‑financial).
- Provide financial, commercial and general business advice to senior leadership, including talent assessment and growth opportunities.
- Lead strategic development and execution, including allocation of resources.
- Lead the commercial finance team through key processes, such as month‑end close, accurate close management, analysis of financial performance vs. budget/forecast, discussions with account teams and customers, forecast and budget development, and management of cash flow and working capital.
- Provide financial support and analysis for Business Development and Operations in commercial pricing proposals.
- Lead negotiation of commercial agreements for new business, renewals, and significant changes to terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with operational site management to minimize financial and commercial risks.
- Approve capital expenditures for new and replacement capital, including project appraisal and financing method recommendations.
- Liaise with Purchasing, Real Estate, Contract Administration and Operating teams to highlight and mitigate commercial and financial exposures.
- Develop creative solutions that balance risk and reward in commercial relationships with customers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or accounting (required).
- MBA and/or CPA (preferred).
- 10+ years of demonstrated success in financial management (required).
- Demonstrated customer relationship and commercial negotiation skills (required).
- Logistics industry experience (captive or 3rd party) (preferred).
