Job Purpose

Works independently and with diverse project teams, organization staff, and management to correlate or perform a full range of budget/resource management activities including project, organization, and fixed‑asset budget creation, tracking, reporting, and consultation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Compiles and establishes project budget requirements, creates project budget codes and schedules, conducts periodic reviews to track current and future cost allocations, analyzes budget activities to confirm project expenditures, provides budget forecasting, and prepares detailed budget charts, tables, and spreadsheets to present budget updates via formal or informal presentations to all levels of management.
  • As Budget Controller, monitors expenditures to ensure purchases are within budget requirements, notifies GL and project managers of significant variances, presents budget updates at project meetings, audits purchase requisitions, approves or signs off on PRs, and completes monthly, mid‑term, and final budget reconciliation and reporting.
  • Conducts quarterly and mid‑term budget calculations, analysis, and review; interfaces with department project managers to review cost allocations and project budget/resource needs, identifies additional resource requirements, assists in budget reallocation activities, and reports additional funding requests to executive management.
  • Creates and delivers monthly project budget reports to U.S. and Japan executive management and HRA Finance, including updates on project resource utilization, costs, profit margins, and budget/resource risk management strategies.
  • Defines and creates cost tables for each D‑Project/R‑Theme Project, utilizes cost table data to calculate mid‑term project expenditures by cost category, refines project costs, monitors costs during the project lifetime to support future projections, and ensures accurate budget management and reporting.
  • May support project manpower planning initiatives by analyzing labor costs, forecasting manpower needs, compiling manpower data, recommending resource efficiencies, and presenting manpower budget status reports to executive management.
  • Interfaces with HRA and Japan organizations to implement financial and project management systems, standardizes data formats, monitors system transitions, and conducts quality control measures to verify HRA‑O systems are successfully updated.
  • Actively participates in cross‑training initiatives, expands knowledge of Honda development flow/SED organization, shares knowledge, provides back‑up group operation support, and maintains positive communication with colleagues, vendors, and management.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Minimum educational qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Minimum experience:

    2–6 years of related experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree or a combination of the two.
  • Demonstrated leadership and partnering skill with internal and external organizations.
  • Strong statistical, analytical, detail‑oriented, and time‑management skills.
  • Decision‑making, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of management, departmental, and project staff across disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including pivot tables, charting, data analysis, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Knowledge and application in database management or administration, including SAP, Lotus Notes, and other company systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, multitasking, and detail‑oriented skills.
Working Conditions

Travel:
Average of at least 3–6 times annually, varying by project demands, conferences, etc.; may include overseas travel.

Physical:
Primarily desk‑bound with frequent keyboarding; limited kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, or bending.

Hazards:
Typical office risks; may be exposed to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals, and moving parts.

Overtime:
Expected based on project demands.
