ScheduleFull‑time.
Work hours:
6:00 am to 10:00 pm; may vary.
$24.16 - $30.55 per hour.
Key Responsibilities- Document and report economic violations with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).
- Investigate assigned complaints regarding violations of PUCO rules and regulations.
- Utilize a portable laptop and other computer equipment to prepare reports.
- Make on‑site recommendations to correct violations.
- Provide assistance where possible.
- Maintain effective public relations with drivers, company representatives, law enforcement officers, and others to ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations.
- Assist other inspectors, troopers, and local law enforcement.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and/or training related to highway safety and compliance with state and federal rules.
- Testify in court regarding violations.
Minimum requirements:
Valid driver’s license.
- Option 1: 6 months experience enforcing commercial motor vehicle laws or regulations, plus 1 course or 3 months experience in public relations.
- Option 2: 6 months training or experience in motor carrier inspection or commercial vehicle maintenance, plus 1 course or 3 months experience in public relations.
- Or equivalent minimum class qualifications as noted above.
