Classification Purpose
The purpose of the Eligibility Referral Specialist is to interview and maintain communication with public assistance clients who have previously been determined to be eligible for public assistance for the following programs:
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Ohio Works First (OWF), Medicaid, Prevention, Retention Contingency Program (PRC), Publicly Funded Childcare, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Learning Earning and Parenting (LEAP), Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), and other programs.
- Interviews and maintains communication with public assistance clients who have previously been determined to be eligible for public assistance and/or assesses ongoing clients' employment situation and seeks to resolve any barriers to employment these clients may be experiencing.
- Tracks ongoing clients already enrolled in education and/or training programs and assists ongoing clients in job search/retention activities.
- Processes public assistance over payments and under-issuances.
- Attends hearings, training, and meetings regarding public assistance issues/cases and/or employment issues.
- Contacts other public and private sector agencies to establish potential work experience sites for education and/or training program participants.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks associated with the duties of the Eligibility/Referral unit.

Required: High School Diploma/GED or 1-3 years at a JFS agency
Preferred: Associate Degree
