Job Description

We are seeking passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role of Mineral Resources Inspector 1 within the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management, headquartered at the Uniontown Office. Residency Requirement - This position will service the following counties:
Ashtabula & Trumbull. Any applicant accepting an offer to this position will be required to physically reside in Ashtabula or Trumbull County or any contiguous county (Lake, Geauga, Portage, & Mahoning) within 180 days from the first day of employment. What you will do… For the following receive training and instruction:
Inspect various oil and gas activities for compliance with applicable laws, rules & regulations in assigned geographical region. Investigate Orphan Well & landowner complaints regarding pollution/contamination of natural resources from oilfield wastes; complete referrals; interview parties & witnesses; gather records & documentation (e.g., photos, drilling data, cement records, electric logs, hydrogen sulfide [H2S]). Oversee drilling, casing, cementing, plugging, production and transporter activities to protect natural resources and public safety.

Collect evidence & make recommendations for corrective action. Issue notices of violation & prepare evidence & reports necessary for administrative, civil or criminal prosecution. Act as a liaison with other local, county, state & federal officials. This position requires travel to field sites to conduct inspections & to be available 24 hours/7 days per week to respond to calls &/or site inspections.

Starting hourly pay of $26.54/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $34.53/hr there may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires travel; conducts field inspections in inclement weather, on rough terrain & in heavy vegetation while carrying testing equipment weighing up to 20 lbs; exposed to loud noises, dirt, & mud at mine/well sites; may be exposed to toxic substances, blasting & potentially dangerous conditions at mine/well sites; spends high percentage of time alone in automobile in remote areas; on call 24 hrs, 7 days per week;
