OverallFunction:
The Camp Health Care Administrator is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of health care for campers and staff in alignment with American Camp Association (ACA) Standards, Camp policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. This role ensures a safe, welcoming, and well-organized health care environment by providing professional medical oversight, effective communication, and thorough documentation.
Summary of Responsibilities- Health Care Operations & Compliance
- Organize, oversee, and coordinate all aspects of health care services for campers and staff.
- Manage the medication administration system, including secure storage, accurate dispensing, and documentation in accordance with ACA standards and Camp Joy procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical information in compliance with HIPAA and share only necessary health-related information with appropriate staff.
- Ensure the health care facility is clean, safe, well-organized, and properly stocked at all times.
- Complete and maintain all required documentation, including health screenings, medication administration records, incident and injury reports, and daily logs, before the end of each shift.
- Observe camp activities and camper behavior to identify potential health or safety concerns and communicate recommendations to appropriate managers or directors.
- Serve as a designated lead responder during all-camp emergencies, following Camp Joy’s emergency action plans.
- Adhere to all ACA standards, Camp Joy policies, and applicable health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents/guardians, staff, and leadership regarding health-related needs and concerns.
- When partnering with specialty camps, check in daily with the Medical Specialist to support health care processes, medication systems, and serve as a resource for questions.

- Receives average program client evaluation scores of 85 or higher for specialty camps.
- Achieves 96% or higher on camper outcome evaluations related to campers reporting they had fun at camp (agency camps).
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- LPN certification or higher preferred; must hold all required licenses and certifications.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required; medication administration training required.
- Experience working with youth and ability to collaborate effectively with staff and clients.
- Strong communication, organizational and documentation skills.
- Flexibility and embrace of spontaneity a must.
- High standard of customer service and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain positive, active professionalism for over 12 hours a day on diverse landscapes and during inclement weather.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical Requirement: Ability to lift, carry, and assist with loads of up to 50 pounds
