Location: West Jefferson, OH (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Biochemistry Laboratory Technician to support laboratory operations within a fast-paced scientific research environment. This position will assist chemistry and biochemistry teams by performing laboratory activities, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting the delivery of high-quality scientific data.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with laboratory experience in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or microbiology who are looking to expand their technical skills and gain hands-on experience in a professional research setting. The position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic chemistry and biochemistry laboratory procedures under the supervision of senior laboratory staff.
- Support sample preparation activities, including labeling, sorting, organizing, and preparing samples for analysis.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, including workstations, equipment, glassware, pipettes, and storage areas.
- Clean laboratory glassware according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Dispose of chemical waste and hazardous materials in compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor laboratory inventory levels and assist with ordering, stocking, and organizing supplies and reagents.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
- Participate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
- Assist with quality control reviews and technical documentation as needed.
- Perform additional laboratory support activities as assigned.
- Associate's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of one year of chemistry coursework with associated laboratory experience.
- Minimum of one year of biology coursework with associated laboratory experience.
- At least 2 years of hands-on bench laboratory experience in a chemistry or biochemistry laboratory environment. Laboratory experience gained through upper-level coursework may be considered.
- Experience using laboratory pipetting techniques.
- Experience maintaining accurate laboratory records, documentation, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Experience working in a research, analytical, or regulated laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory inventory management and reagent tracking.
- Experience supporting scientific studies, testing, or laboratory operations.
- 100% onsite position located in West Jefferson, Ohio.
- Laboratory-based role supporting chemistry and biochemistry operations.
- Collaborative team environment focused on quality, safety, and scientific excellence.
- Full-time schedule, 40 hours per week.
- Contract position with potential for long-term or permanent employment.
- Relocation candidates will be considered.
- Interview process includes meetings with the hiring manager and members of the scientific team, either in person or virtually.
- At least 2 years of chemistry or biochemistry laboratory experience.
- Associate's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Strong laboratory documentation and recordkeeping experience.
- Hands-on pipetting and bench laboratory skills.
- A commitment to safety, accuracy, and attention to detail.
