Background

The Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services works with incarcerated men and women in Ohio’s prisons to facilitate life change, foster renewed responsibility and build the opportunity to become productive restored citizens.

Recovery Services – Therapeutic Community Alcohol & Drug Counselors use evidence-based treatment approaches in the treatment of incarcerated men and women in prison who are in need of substance abuse recovery programming.

Duties of the Alcohol & Drug Counselors
  • At assigned correctional institution, conducts interviews and provides counseling services to clients in the Therapeutic Community
  • Screens clients to determine eligibility for substance use disorder treatment services
  • Completes assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge planning on participants (documented in electronic health record)
  • Participates as an active member of the treatment team
  • Normal working hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Hours may vary)
