Job Description:

As a member of the Health Care Team, under the direction of the Attending physician, provides technical assistance by scrubbing and monitoring a variety of Cardiac/ Vascular and Neuro diagnostic and interventional procedures. Participates in maintenance of lab equipment, materials, supplies, and ordering processes.

All employees must adhere to the following at all times:

  • Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues.
  • Adheres to all radiation safety issues by wearing badges, lead and recording length of exposure to patients.
  • Adheres to NPSG 07.01.01 by effectively washing hands when going from one patient to the next.
  • Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues; able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. Issues identified are handled timely and appropriately.
  • Department education and training focus has a direct impact on patient safety and reduces unsafe working conditions for employees.
  • Employee attends and follows all department‑specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.
  • Recognizes frayed cord: reports equipment dysfunction in a timely manner, ensures an alternate process is in place and action is taken, reducing adverse results or impact to patient care and the employee.
  • Recognizes exposure to blood: works as a team to limit exposure and create a safe work environment; manages safety concerns and wipes up spills.
  • Follows a standardized approach for handoff communication: adheres to policy and standard of care for communication, including the opportunity to ask and respond to questions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA‑approved school.
  • Must be licensed in the State of Ohio.
  • AART registered.
  • Minimum of two years experience in special procedures and cardiovascular procedures required.
  • Assumes on‑call responsibilities.
  • Must hold current CPR certification.
  • Physical requirements:

    visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable; ability to hear (with or without aids); ability to orally communicate; good manual dexterity; ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally; ability to stand, walk frequently; ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; ability to perform CPR if required for the position.
  • Communication and other skills: exhibits accuracy, integrity, and flexibility; is punctual and dependable; possesses organizational, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills; demonstrates ability to work with self‑direction and effectiveness under minimal supervision; demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills; possesses group facilitation skills.
