Haven Home Care – Caregiver Position (Summit County, OH)
We provide in‑home care for older adults. Responsibilities include bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, running errands and companionship. This is physical work; caregivers are on their feet most of the day.
Job Responsibilities- Assist with bathing and personal hygiene
- Help with dressing and grooming
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding
- Perform light cleaning and household chores
- Run errands and provide companionship
- Help clients move around safely
Pay varies by qualification and client type.
- Standard clients
- STNA license: $18 per hour
- HHA certificate or experience: $16–$18 per hour
- Free training pathway (no certificate): $16 per hour
- Private‑pay clients you refer
- HHA: $19 per hour
- STNA: $20 per hour
- 10 % extra on holidays
- Pay is issued every two weeks via direct deposit (W‑2)
- Travel time between clients is paid; travel to the first client or from the last is not
- $75–$1,500 for referring a private‑pay client (based on hours)
- $300 for referring a new caregiver who stays (includes $100 after 60 hours and $200 after 200 hours)
- $100 for 30 days of perfect attendance
- $0.50 after 90 days
- $0.50 after 1 year
- $1.00 after 2 years
- Unused raises carry over if missed
- STNA (active or expired) – $18 per hour, 1–3 days work, no test
- HHA certificate (30+ hrs, RN‑signed unless online) – $16–$18 per hour, 5–8 days
- Experience:
1+ year under an RN or LPN – $16–$18 per hour, 5–8 days after verification - No experience: free 32‑hour training (6 days, unpaid) – $16 per hour, 1–2 weeks
Ohio requires an HHA written and skills test (80 % on both parts). STNA holders skip the test. Online training is available for those who cannot provide verifiable experience.
Client MatchingClients are assigned based on limits you specify (pets, smoking, travel distance, days and times). If you can work anywhere and have no specific preferences, you will start working quickly. Strict limits may result in longer wait times.
Shift LengthsShifts range from 2–3 hours (short visits) to 8 hours. Most caregivers have 2–4 regular clients, with optional fill‑ins to increase hours.
Schedule Expectations- Provide a reliable schedule agreed during the phone interview
- Attendance is critical; no‑shows and last‑minute call‑offs are not acceptable
- Changes to hours can be discussed if needed, but flexibility means honoring the agreed days/times
- Valid driver’s license and own insured vehicle for work hauling
- Background check clearance
- Minimum 20 hours per week
- Availability 6 AM–8 PM (most work 8 AM–5 PM)
- Legal right to work in the U.S.; must be at least 18 years old
- No paid time off, 401k, or health insurance
- W‑2 position; direct deposit; pay every two weeks
