Position Overview
The Med Tech provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents and helps administer prescribed medications within the established scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with activities of daily living and resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
- Assists with medication administration, performs medication cart audits, and documents medication use in the EMAR/MAR and Daily Log.
- Report incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals such as HCD, RN/LPN, or ED.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, and dining rooms.
- Plan and conduct activity programs for residents and assist in the transition of new residents, providing emotional support.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position and follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
- Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
- Attend all medication trainings scheduled and keep up-to-date on medication education requirements.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completed the Medication Aide Course.
- Current CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing from the State Board of Nursing.
- Must satisfy 2 medication observations annually and all medication cart audits assigned.
- Attend 4 additional hours of medication administration education annually.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized, able to work well with all levels of personnel, and follow instruction of the supervisor.
- Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co‑workers at all times.
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, push or carry 25 lbs, and safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
- Wear designated uniform, name badge, and a smile during working hours.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
- Attend and complete all required in‑services and staff meetings.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
- Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
