Haven Home Care | Caregivers Wanted in Summit County, Ohio
We don’t offer a fixed starting rate—three scheduled raises are built into your reviews over the first two years
Raises schedule:
- 90-day review: +$0.50/hour
- 1-year review: +$0.50/hour
- 2-year review: +$1.00/hour
- Total potential increase: $2.00/hour if all three are achieved
If you miss one raise, it carries over to the next review. You can still earn it.
Examples:
- Starting at $16/hour: 90 days $16.50 → 1 year $17.00 → 2 years $18.00
- Starting at $18/hour: 90 days $18.50 → 1 year $19.00 → 2 years $20.00
Higher starting pay is possible with prior experience, and raises stack on top.
How you get each raise
At the 90-day, 1-year, and 2-year reviews, you complete an evaluation form. You grade yourself first on 11 items, then you sign it. We grade you on the same items. If all items are rated 1 (highest), the raise is awarded. What we measure:
- Showing Up
- Be on time
- Clock in and out (app or phone)
- Follow call-off steps if you cannot work a shift
- Client Care
- Follow policies
- Accept clients that match the limits you gave us
- Report incidents within 24 hours
- Receive positive client feedback
- Avoid being the reason a client leaves Haven; frequent call-offs or no-shows can affect your raise
- Staying in Touch
- Answer office calls and texts promptly
- Send updated documents when requested (insurance, license, training)
- Complete feedback forms when sent
If you perform these well, the raise is automatic.
More ways to earn
- $100 after 30 days with perfect attendance
- $300 when you refer a caregiver who stays ($100 at 60 hours; $200 at 200 hours)
- $75–$1,500 when you refer a private-pay client (depending on their hours)
You may refer anyone—friends, family, or others—to work here or as a private-pay client; the bonuses above apply.
Starting pay
- STNA license (active or expired): $18/hour
- HHA certificate or experience: $16–$18/hour based on interview
- Free training pathway: $16/hour
- If you refer a private-pay client and care for them yourself: HHA $19/hour; STNA $20/hour
- 10% extra on holidays
Paid every 2 weeks by direct deposit. W-2 job. Travel time between clients is paid from the first client to the last; travel time before the first and after the last is not paid.
What the work is
You go to people’s homes to help with daily life, mostly older adults: baths, dressing, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. It is physical work; you are on your feet and help clients move. If you need accommodations, we can discuss options. You do NOT administer medicines or perform medical tasks—this is for nurses.
Before you apply — is this work for you?
Home care requires genuine care for the elderly. Clients are vulnerable and rely on you showing up. The role can be demanding, including travel between clients and consistent attendance. It is rewarding for the right person who demonstrates empathy and reliability.
Most caregivers work with 2–4 regular clients; one caregiver has been here for 18 years.
Cities we serve
Akron, Barberton, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Hartville, Hudson, Kent, New Franklin, Norton, Rootstown, Silver Lake, Stow, Tallmadge, Uniontown. We consider travel range when matching clients.
Clients matched to your preferences
During a phone interview, share your limits (pets, smoking, travel distance, days and times). We only send clients that fit what you told us.
The guarantee If you can travel anywhere we have clients and work with any client, you will start work quickly. If no immediate match exists, you’re first in line when one opens.
The reality If you have travel limits or preferences, your client availability may be smaller. Example: if you only want Stow clients, you will wait for a Stow client.
First 2 weeks: we gauge reliability with fill-in shifts. After that, your regular clients are yours. Want more hours? You can pick up fill-in shifts anytime.
About shift lengths
Shifts can be as short as 2–3 hours per visit; some are 4–6 hours or 8 hours, depending on client needs. You may have several clients across different days to reach 20+ hours/week.
What "flexible" means here
Flexible means the days and times you stated you can work. It does not mean calling off or skipping shifts.
